Like other Ohio townships, Washington Township provides strong accountability in fiscal management.

Elected Fiscal Officer

The Finance Department operates under the direction of a part-time Fiscal Officer, who is elected by residents to a four-year term. Day-to-day operations are managed by a full-time finance director.

Voter Approval

Washington Township is funded mainly by property taxes approved by local voters. Voters have authorized about 80% of the Township’s property tax revenue. The Township does not have an income tax. Click here to learn more about property tax in Washington Township.

Accountability

The State Auditor’s Office has issued unqualified opinions for Washington Township for many years, finding no material issues in the Township’s financial statements. Although state law requires audits every two years, the Fiscal Officer requests annual audits to provide the highest level of accountability to taxpayers.
